Jackets are a good choice for summer especially if they are made of pure cotton. They can be teamed up with Jeans, trousers  or Palazzo  pants during summer.  I had the lucky chance to explore some of them at Urban Durvish  collections - Designer Apparel for men and women. 

The Jacket collection was pretty amazing. Urban Durvish gives a lot of emphasis to the fabric and the material of the apparel as well as the cut and fitting. The jackets were tailored to perfection. Have a quick look.

Care And Cut With The All New Wella Range

It was a wonderful opportunity to be invited by Jean Claude Biguine Salon and Spa for a complimentary care and cut with their all new Wella range. I jumped at the offer as I wanted to begin the New Year with a makeover and JCB made it possible. 

I always believe that pampering yourself in a salon not only helps you relax but also gives a boost to your self confidence. If you feel good from within you will definitely look good on the exterior as well.

 My appointment was booked for 11a m at the Indiranagar JCB branch. The treatment began as per schedule. My Stylist Ronald was very courteous and  professional at the same time. Throughout the hair care treatment, he kept me engaged by offering valuable tips on hair care.

 The treatment first began with a hair wash. Next step involved applying the repair mask to my hair to strengthen each and every root.

 I was also given a head massage which was extremely relaxing. Next my hair was exposed to steam, both hot and cold. This is done so that all the essential ingredients needed to strengthen the hair gets absorbed into the hair. The cold treatment is to close the pores. 

This was followed by a hair wash. Last but not the least my hair was styled with loose waves to perfection and according to my liking. 

Besides the beautiful ambience, the latest music playing in the background, kept my spirits high, through the whole process. Stylist Ronald was very friendly and it was fun interacting with him. 

I've shared a few snaps below which were clicked after the hair spa. Hope you all like it. :)

The whole process took around three hours. I enjoyed every bit of the pampering. It was quite a rejuvenating experience. The Wella range of products left my hair feeling soft and smooth.

A Fun-Filled Day At The JCB Blogger Party

Writers and bloggers of the Women's Web community had the glorious opportunity to attend the Jean Claude Blogger party at Jean Claude Biguine, Koramangala in Bangalore. It was my first meet with the Women's Web team. On that account I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity. The excitement to meet Milan Vohra - the author of Tick - Tock we're 30, coupled with the curiosity to meet fellow bloggers and writers overtook me and I decided to make it to the event.

We were given a warm welcome by the Women's Web community and the JCB Team. I met Aparna (Founder and Editor of Women's Web) for the first time, with whom I had interacted only through emails and phone. It was a pleasure to meet the woman behind this dynamic platform. On entering the Saloon and Spa we clicked individual photographs. The ambience of the place was alluring and highly charged. The JCB team were courteous and very friendly. The stylists were actively moving around attending to the needs of the fellow bloggers and writers. Some of the bloggers and writers already began their manicure, pedicure and hair express ritual sessions.

After a few writers completed their first round of treatment, the fun began to unfold. We played a game where we needed to discover  fellow bloggers with the help of cue cards. That was fun ! We  discovered fellow writers and got to know more about them. Each one of them coming from varied backgrounds.

I spoke to Milan Vohra - acclaimed Author of Tick - Tock we're 30  in the midst of all the fun. She gave us an interesting talk on the 'Blog to book and book to blog' topic. The conversation revolved on why we write, the variations in blogging and writing and how both could benefit us.  Many writers bought her latest book -' Tick - Tock we're 30'. She read out an amusing excerpt from her latest book too. Her last words to me were 'Continue Writing'. In the midst of Milan's interesting talk, we were offered a round of hot coffee with a large spread of delicious  Muffins. After a while the remaining writers indulged in their manicure, pedicure and hair express rituals that took a while.

JCB stylists are professionals.  They pampered us, and completed their work with utmost perfection. They made each of us feel at ease. I got an hair express ritual done. Throughout the session the hair stylists kept giving us tips on how to improve the texture of our hair and asked us a whole bunch of questions to try and analyze, if we make errors in our hair care regime. The whole experience was soothing and fun. My personal stylist Niang was friendly and cheerful. After the beautiful ladies were done with their hair express rituals, the hair stylists clicked photographs with each one of us.

When all the writers were done with their beauty sessions, we concluded the programme with a photo session. All of us grouped together to click photographs. The JCB team gave us gift vouchers that contained  french skin care products, magazines and gift cards.

What Does Style Mean ?

Note: This post is being written as part of the Women’s Web – Trishla emart ‘A Style of My Own!’ campaign.

When the first lady of United States Michelle Obama, touched India in an alluring floral blue dress, little did I know that the dress was designed by an Indian designer - Bibhu Mohapatra. It was also a proud moment, when I discovered that he hails from Rourkela, a steel township in Orissa, which happens to be my place of birth. Michelle Obama, donning a dress designed by an Indian designer, just goes to prove that we Indians have come a long way when it comes to Style and Fashion.

Speaking of style and fashion, I feel Style is a reflection of our attitudes and personality. It's our identity. Possessing a personal style of our own sets us apart and it's the essence of our persona. It is something to be valued as it makes us the person we are. To me style is inborn. The style we are born with can never be taken away from us as it's nature's gift bestowed on us. Various fashion platforms offer varied styles in terms of dressing and couture from which we can take inspiration. We can follow our favourite fashion icons too. The internet is loaded with fashion information and several fashion bloggers are out there who are making a mark, sharing their own fashion tips that are distinct and useful.

Style changes at different stages. A person who is young would prefer to dress up in vibrant colours. The high levels of energy within the body is reflected in the dressing sense. People who are in their mid forties or more prefer to tone down the colours and adopt a more mature sense of dressing.

When it comes to my personal style, I adapt  two varied styles that are poles apart. On one hand I love the street Style fashion when it comes to casual dressing. The cool, laid back look in this fashion appeals a lot to me. And for occasions and formal events, sophistication and elegance is my style. I experiment and play with a lot of  colours and prints. Importance is given to comfort for any casual outings like a movie or spending a day in the mall. I team jeans with comfortable tops and trendy tunics.

Dresses form a dominant part of my wardrobe. I love feminine cuts, one piece, elegant dresses that flatter my size and shape. They can be casual and slinky too. A black dress is a must for me and they come in handy in occasions like weddings, dinners, or just a casual date. When I'm in doubt I always opt for the 'Black dress'. 'Sweater dresses' are a good option for winters as they can be worn with tights.

During occasions like weddings and important events I raise the fashion bar. I would generally turn up in a feminine cut elegant dress that offers sophistication. I would also opt for a heavily worked Salwar Kameez or a sexy Saree. Accessories form an important aspect of my dressing as they give life to an outfit. I try to mix and match whatever accessories I possess and team them with my attire.

Skirts are another favourite ensemble. The pencil skirt is most favoured. Having said that, I love formal short skirts, preferably knee length and wrap over skirts for their playful and colourful touch to the whole get up. Dressing to me is incomplete without a nice pair of shoes. I have a penchant for heels and I love most of the styles that are currently available but if I have to choose any one style, then my all time favourite would be the open Ankle strap high heel shoes. They pair well with dresses, skirts, salwar kameez, jeans and even a saree. Having said that, I also relish the look of the peep toe shoes as well.

 At the end of it all, when it comes to make up, I prefer to highlight my eyes.  During occasions an eye liner, mascara, Kajal with shimmering eye shadow to match the attire is a must. I end my final look with a pop of lipstick preferably shades of orange, red, pink, maroon or mauve.

India has been the best when it comes to ethnic wear and now it doesn't lag behind in western wear too. It's because our country is home to some of the most talented designers like Rohit Bahl, Tarun Tahiliani, Neeta Lulla, Manish Malhotra and so on. We also hold some of the most talented fashion bloggers, and fashionistas who share fantastic styling tips and fashion secrets with us that meet International standards. I'm sure there would be upcoming talented designers like Bibhu Mohapatra who would make us proud in the field of couture, fashion and Style.

Personal tip :  While choosing to wear an attire one must not let the clothes overshadow our personalities.The clothes are there to enhance our style. Never let it seek all the attention.  One needs to carry the attire and not the other way around. Keep it simple and keep it shining wherever you go.

Four Fountains Spa review

I had the opportunity to visit the four fountains spa recently. I opted to visit the Koramangala branch in Bangalore as that seemed to be the closest branch. I'm glad that I came across a Spa that is affordable and maintains high quality standards as well. You would be welcomed by a sweet lemongrass Aroma as you enter it. The reception is specially designed with wooden beads to massage our back and the door handles have been created to massage the pressure points of our palms. 

The customer is immediately attended to by the courteous spa team. They guide the customer through the various massage therapies that are available and would also recommend a therapy based on our individual needs and requirement. Thus it becomes easier to make choice from the various packages that are available.

While I was going through the rates of the various therapies, I realised that the prices of the massage therapies were afforadable and within the budget. This was what caught my attention. Many of us hesitate to go to a spa frequently due to the towering rates of the packages. But the packages that were available here were reasonable.  The therapies are categorized into De-stressing, De-toxification, immunity and beauty. 

Once I decided on the therapy, I was escorted to my room. As I entered the room, the dim lights and the soothing cool atmosphere in the room already started working on my nerves. A soothing tune was being played in the background. I instantly began to feel relaxed and calm. I was introduced to my massage therapist; a young pleasant female therapist. After she greeted me, she guided me to place my belongings in the locker room. She showed me the change over clothes that was neatly laid on the bed. I was told to press a buzzer, once I complete changing. The therapist was warm, friendly and very professional. She was not hasty and maintained the pressure to my need and liking.

The therapist made sure that I was comfortable with the entire therapy. After a relaxing massage which I assume lasted more than an hour, I was asked to take a warm water shower.  The shower room had a higher grade shampoo and body soap with a sweet smelling fragrance. I took my own sweet time as there was no one to hasten me.  They also provided a hair dryer and the therapsit took efforts to dry my tangled hair. 

After the complete session, I was escorted out of the room and immediately given a hot cup of green tea, which I sipped at my own leisure pace.  I was then asked to fill up a customer feedback form.

• The customer service staff and the administration executives are prompt,courteous and helpful.
• They take immediate appointments and are flexible in giving you a slot that is comfortable to the customer.
• The prices of most of the therapies are affordable and within the budget of the common man. 
• The rooms are very clean and the atmosphere is soothing and serene. 
• They provide same gender therapies.
• The therapists are professional and courteous. 
• They provided brochures on living a healthy stress-free life and a complete guide on the four fountains spa.

Creation of the India Online Fashion Week

 India Online Fashion Week

  The object and desire behind the creation of the Indian online fashion week,  was to give a platform to budding artists across India from varied fields of the fashion industry. These Ingenious artists would then create a much needed fashion revolution with their creative ideas, that would be presented to millions of people all over the globe. It would be a show of creativity and raw talent. The curtain raiser was held on July 25 and the grand finale would be concluded on July 30, 2014, with the participation of some of the biggest names in the industry.

The event received an enormous response from talented artists not only from big cities like Mumbai and Delhi but also from smaller towns like Dehradun, Aurangabad, Bikaner, Lucknow and Guwahati to name a few. This clearly proves that the Internet has spread it's wings all over. Anyone located anywhere can make use of the massive opportunities that come their way, through it's medium. It was overwhelming to receive such a mighty response from our young artists.

The Jabong online fashion week  which has now begun, is moving forward in full swing.   The grand finale would be streamed live from the venue at www.iofw.com. The show stoppers of the IOFW grand finale would be the beautiful and talented Ms. Yami Gautam - Indian Actress and the handsome Mr. Aditya Roy Kapur - Indian Actor.

* On 26th July Saturday,  vignettes and videos  from  the  Makeup  artist,  Hairstylist  and Designer auditions which were held on 2nd July 2014 in New Delhi will be presented.The videos would capture the stylist’s thoughts on color for the season and makeup tips for a glamorous look, the backstage fun, drama and final winners who have been selected. The jury for the Hair  Stylists  and Makeup artist  auditions were  Samantha  Kochhar  and  Rod  Anker  and for the  Designer auditions the jury were Dr. Darlie Koshy and Poonam Bhagat. 

* On 27 July Sunday,  vignettes and  videos from the Grooming, Look test and Fittings session of the India Online Fashion Week covering all the selected winners (twenty models, fifteen designers, five makeup artists, five hair stylists and five fashion photographers) would be presented.These videos would also cover backstage drama, fitting sessions to showcase what goes on behind the scene during the making of a fashion show. The parameters which are kept in mind as a part of look tests to match designer collections and model looks.

* On 28 July, Monday there would be a launch of five exclusive designer collections namely Aastha Bahl ANS by Astha and Siddharth, Dressology by Amit Arora and Threesome by Siddharth K Kakkar. 

* On 29th July, tuesday there would be a launch of five exclusive designer collections namely : ILK by Vinita and Shikha, Piquancy Swagger by Saj Armaan, Aiman,Timsy and Siddhartha.

* On 30 July, Wednesday there would be a launch of five exclusive designer collections namely Azalea by Aditi Gupta,Bhootsavar by Nitin Bal Chauhan,DIR 69 by Tanu Bagai , Shreya Mistry and Rajdeep Ranawat. 

* The grand finale would be held on 30 July and you could view the Live streaming of the grand finale on www.iofw.com directly from the venue.

Now, let's take a look at the concept of  two major collections which is going to be launched by two talented designers Rajdeep Ranawat and ' ILK' by Vinita and Shikha.

 ' Beyond the cold ' is the concept and theme behind  Rajdeep Ranawat's the fall winter 2014 collection. It takes it's inspiration from cold forests. Each piece from his collection is unique and has a different story to tell. His diverse, digital and embroidered pieces tells innovative stories and delivers powerful ideas of fortress once beautified by the wild imagination of human talent and creativity and their eventual downfall to the wilderness.

 In his designs he tries to graphically capture a sense of degenerating mosaics and lost handcrafted artifacts; crumbling architectures, over run by the forests, of treasures lost and parchment dissipated. His collections are master pieces and are made of fabrics like silk crepe, silk georgette organza, and Chanderi.  He used those colours for the garment that would strive to create a winter mood. 

ILK by Vinita and Shikha collection preview

' Beehive yourself ' is the concept and theme behind  Vinita and Shikha's ILK collection. In this collection you would see naturally occuring geometric designs like hexagonal shapes, that resemble honeycomb patterns. These pieces would reflect the beauty that is found in these naturally made honeycombs. The ' ILK Woman ' would be honored with the title ' Busy Bee '.
  

The ' ILK Woman' is defined as the one who has a powerful mind with a sharp head on her shoulders. The silhouettes would reflect a utilitarian aesthetic which means  that the unique pieces would be a combination of utility and attractiveness, thereby commanding attention. Each piece with a melange of varied textures and techniques has come together with intricate detailing. A lot of effort and hard work has been put into creating each one these masterpieces.

When we soak up these designs in our mind, our thoughts would give us the impression that we are immersed in these honey producing combs and feel the textures, embroideries and shapes.  This energy that would be created within us would wire us to indulge ourselves in these thoughts and let our imagination ' bee ' free. Hope you liked the two themes that would sweep away your imagination, as and when the collection would be presented to you.

India Online fashion week - Models

The India Online fashion week,  popularly called ' IOFW ' is gaining momentum with every passing day. Jabong.com is moving forward and coming up with innovative and creative ideas as the days go by. After all,it's gearing up for the world's first online shop-able fashion week. 

As I've mentioned in my earlier post, Jabong has given an amazing platform to youngsters to showcase their talent. This would also help them to be a part of the global fashion scene. Amongst the billions of talented youngsters fifteen fashion designers, twenty models, five photographers, five make up artists and five hair stylists have been short listed during the auditions. These finalists would be seen together for the  fall festive collection 2014.

In this post I would be covering the events and news associated with the short listed models. Day one of the  India online fashion week started with the auditions of the models both male and female. This was only the first segment of the entire audition ceremony.  Youngsters appeared in large numbers for the auditions held at Picturesque and Palatial venue at Chhatarpur in New Delhi.

Preliminaries before the final audition 

The Panel of judges comprised of the charming  model Carol Gracias, Fashion Choreographer - Rashmi Virmani and Samant Chauhan - Fashion designer. Carol Gracias is seen above scrutinizing the models during the auditions. According to Rashmi Virmani, it was a tough call selecting the finalists amongst the pool of talented models. She also stated that it was good to see so many tall women in the room at one point of time, which just goes to prove that the internet has spread it's wings all over.

  The three judges are seen above having a light hearted conversation before the finale. 

Models both male and female turned up in huge numbers. Most of them were tall, well groomed with well toned bodies. They fitted the bill of perfect models as they had all the required credentials.

             

 The set of sixteen models who were finally selected, are all seen standing with poise and grace below.

* The entire collection would be sold online. This would also give an opportunity for brands to launch their work without marketing.

* The winners from each of the above category would undergo grooming sessions by high profiled fashion experts.
